Jan. 21 was a day of unity for many people. Millions marched together across the world in organizations known as “women’s marches.” Although called the Women’s March, the marches unified under a greater purpose: equality for all. Support of minorities, LGBTQ+, the disabled, and even climate science was present in signs and hearts.
There was no projected, organized opposition—as an event, it was a time to unite in passionate alliance for equal human rights. The march garnered massive attention, powerful speakers, and co-organizer Patty Hughes from the Democratic Women’s Club of Stanislaus County was heartened by the thousand marchers Modesto saw that day.
