Too Much Funny at the Gallo Center for the Arts

By Alex Cantatore

D.L. Hughley Aug. 15, 8 p.m. $19-59

DL HughleyHe’s an Original King of Comedy. He’s had a sitcom named after him.

And on Aug. 15, D.L. Hughley will perform at the Gallo Center for the Arts.

Hughley is a stand-up comedian who made a name for himself hosting the program “ComicView” on BET. He parlayed that experience into his own sitcom, “The  Hughleys,” which ran on ABC and UPN. And he later hosted “D.L. Hughley Breaks the News” on CNN, served as a correspondent on “The Jay Leno Show,” and hosted a nationally syndicated radio show.

Stand-up comedy has always been Hughley’s first love and greatest talent. But even if you don’t know his witty, oftentimes political comedy, you might know Hughley from his dancing skills; he competed in “Dancing With the Stars” in 2013.

Note: Hughley’s show discusses adult themes.

Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias Aug. 8, 5 and 8 p.m. $39-129

gabrieliglesiasGabrial Iglesias isn’t fat, he’s “fluffy.” And he’s the No. 1 comedian on YouTube, with over 100,000,000 views worldwide.

You can never quite tell where the next Iglesias joke will come from. He blends storytelling, parodies, characters, and sound effects into a consistently uproarious routine.

Iglesias became well known through a series of well-received shows on Comedy Central, including “I’m Not Fat… I’m Fluffy,” “Hot & Fluffy,” and “Aloha Fluffy.” He produced and hosts “Stand Up Revolution” on Comedy Central, and was a contestant on “Last Comic Standing” in 2006. His standup comedy film “The Fluffy Movie” was released to theatres in 2014.

Note: Iglesias’ routine includes mature content, but no profanity.
