Stanislaus County Fair: Fun and Inspiring

By Jacqui Sinarle

There are so many great reasons to attend this year’s Stanislaus County Fair, scheduled for Jul. 13, through Jul. 22. Not only does the Fair offer family fun with exhibits, livestock, rides, and food—but now, for the third year, the Fair will also feature the empowHER Lounge aimed at inspiring young girls to be great leaders in our community.

“Our goal with empowHER Lounge is to provide workshops that give girls the confidence to be themselves and provide them with the skills they need to empower others as well as themselves,” explained Adrenna Alkhas, the fair’s marketing and communication director. “The workshops are designed to help harness their leadership skills, navigate their relationships with technology and create meaningful and inspiring online content by being careful of what they post on social media.”

The Lounge will be open during the run of the Fair, from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 2 to 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. At press time, topics and speakers that will be provided by Modesto’s Women’s Education and Leadership League were still being finalized. Girls 16 and older are invited to sign up for Lounge presentations at www.stancofair.com.

“Girls who register will get free swag bags from the Fair and Vintage Faire Mall,” Alkhas said. “Toni and Guy is also doing a make under called the ‘No Makeup, Makeup’ with hair and makeup tutorials aimed to show girls how to enhance their natural beauty. We will also have prize giveaways inside the Lounge; girls can take instant photos of themselves and write something positive about them; 209 Magazine will have ‘Women in Media Day at the Lounge;’ and there will be inspirational books for girls to read as they lounge and charge their mobile devices.”

This year’s Fair will also feature Dinomania! which includes a dinosaur exhibit, hands-on activities, dino movies and star shows, specialized speakers and more; the Smadge Brothers performing motorcycle and bicycle jumps and tricks by the FoodMaxx Arena; and an amazing entertainment lineup with John Michael Montgomery, Kool & the Gang, Easton Corbin, Salt N Pepa, Lifehouse, Trace Adkins, Blue Oyster Cult, Grand Funk Railroad, and Septima Banda.
