Redi to Succeed

By Noel Daniel

The JobRedi® Foundation hosted 100 grant recipients, their families, and distinguished guests at the 2017 JobRedi HOOPLA Celebration on Aug. 9, 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Stockton Arena. JobRedi grants provide financial support to high school grads who face real adversity. These grantees are fulll-time students at community colleges in San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties who enroll in two-year vocational certification (VO-CERT) programs. JobRedi financial grants are based on Grantees demonstrating personal accountability in pursuing their individual VO-CERT.

The event included festive activities engaging grantees, their families, and community leaders celebrating grantees’ transition from high school to adult responsibilities. Following dinner, JobRedi CEO, Dino Cortopassi, presented keynote remarks reviewing JobRedi’s Mission; the remarkable growth rate achieved by its “Ready. Fire. Aim!” strategy and tactics; and five “Big, Hairy, Audacious Goals” (BHAGs) which will continue driving JobRedi’s rocketing growth onward.

The JobRedi Mission is focused on at-risk high school graduates—all who have experienced adversity—have been left with little more than minimum wage employment options. JobRedi’s mission is to identify those who have the demonstrated “grit” to overcome adversities and to pull themselves up into self-supporting middle-class earning power and responsible community citizenship.

JobRedi supplies the structure, monthly financial payments, and staff support to help at-risk grantees climb the ladder. The personal effort and “grit” to make it to VO-CERT graduation comes from the grantees. They expect grantee accountability and recognize that not all will be up to that challenge.

Under Earn While You Learn™, JobRedi grantees earn grant funds based on their personal commitment to the JobRedi program by attending class; participating in JobRedi workshops; maintaining passing grades; and meeting on a regular basis with JobRedi staff and volunteer coaches.

Said simply English, JobRedi pays grantees (based on their own performance) while they are full-time students in VO-CERT programs. The maximum JobRedi grant earning potential is $2,500 per semester. JobRedi Foundation Earn While You Learn grants are awarded to those students holding a high school diploma and have demonstrated “grit” (courage/perseverance) in overcoming adversities.

The JobRedi grants renew each semester for grantees remaining in good standing and progressing toward VO-CERT graduation.
