Doctors Medical Center of Modesto launched a hospital-wide literacy project to foster a love of reading in young children and families. The project started on Mar. 1, along with the start of The National Education Association’s Read Across America Day which is a nationwide celebration of the birthday of Theodor Seuss Geisel—better known as Dr. Seuss. To celebrate, every infant born that week received a commemorative, handmade “Dr. Seuss”-styled striped hat. Infants born during the whole month will receive a copy of the Dr. Seuss book, “Happy Birthday to You.”
