Love is in the air and Valentine’s Day is on the horizon!
If you, like so many others, find yourself hopelessly in love and hopelessly unsure how to show it, look no further! Here are a handful of date ideas that are certain to delight, providing the basis of a perfect evening for you and your sweetheart.
Celebrate your love for each other and for the arts with a concert from a local band at a local venue! Stop Motion Poetry combine pop with class, offering intelligent tunes that you can still dance to. They perform at the Turlock Community theater at 7 p.m. on Feb. 10, and tickets are $15 to $25 per person.
Atmasandhi Live at Moon & Sixpence
If you’re looking for music of a different flavor, Atmasandhi offers a concert experience that blends far Eastern Classical Music with Spanish guitar, and Afro-Cuban drums into a delightful combination of rock, folk, jazz, and the sounds of India. It is, to use the band’s own words, “a musical journey for the senses,” and a Valentine’s weekend event you won’t forget anytime soon. Tickets are $15 for the show on Feb. 10, and is located at the Moon & Sixpence Music & Art House.
Victorian Tea at the McHenry Mansion
Travel to a more romantic time with a Victorian themed tea party held at the McHenry Mansion on Feb. 10! You can expect to enjoy a delightful lunch at 11:30am, and while fancy dress isn’t strictly required, it’s certainly encouraged. Reservations are required, and seats are $30 per person so dress up with that special someone and kick off a Valentine’s weekend in style.
Express Yourselves at Pottery Magic
What better way to commemorate a romantic evening than with a collaborative project than can last a lifetime? At Pottery Magic, located in Modesto on McHenry Ave., you and your guy or gal can paint pottery however you’d like, with optional help from its knowledgeable staff. Whether it’s a bowl, a tea kettle, or a vase to hold your newly-gifted roses, seeing the resultant artwork in your home each day is sure to brighten your mood, reminding you of a day well spent with the one you love.
Eighties Throwback with “Date at the State”
On Feb. 9 at 6:30 p.m., the Modesto State Theatre is hosting its annual “Date at the State,” a blast from the past complete with wine tasting, live entertainment, food, and a screening of the 1984 classic Footloose. Tickets are $25, and proceeds go to supporting the Healthy Aging Association, which helps seniors live healthy lifestyles, so you’ll be supporting a great cause while having a great time!
Valentine’s Day Weddings at The Century
Is your girl or guy The One? Looking for something a little (okay, a lot) more serious than another Valentine’s date? What better way to celebrate a day of love than with a promise of forever? The Century, located in Modesto on 10th St., is hosting a day of back-to-back affordable, intimate wedding ceremonies on Feb. 14.
