Mahler Symphony No. 2: Resurrection
Mary Stuart Rogers Theater
May 14, 8 P.M. $19-92

Very little can match the power of a masterfully written symphony—which is why the Modesto Symphony Orchestra’s performance of Mahler’s Resurrection Symphony is one that no one should miss. The five movement piece evokes the journey of life, death, and the afterlife. This auditory marvel marks the end of the classics series and provides a surround-sound ensemble of brass and percussion.

Mahler’s most popular work is deftly handled with David Lockington as conductor, Antonina Chehovska as soprano, and Cybele Gouverneur as mezzo-soprano. Dr. Daniel R. Afonso, Jr. is director of the chorus which features the California State University, Stanislaus Concert Chorale & Chamber Singers.
