Founded by ShadowChase Running Club to benefit the Teens Run Modesto program, the Modesto Marathon features marathon, half-marathon and 5K running courses and includes a Race Expo and Kid Zone. The course is certified as a Boston qualifier.

28TH ANNUAL RUN FOR HEALTH
East La Loma Park, 2001 Edgebrook Dr., Modesto
This family event has one-mile, 5K and 10K courses and welcomes participants of all ages and abilities, from children to seniors and beginners to veteran runners. Free shirts are presented on a first-come, first-served basis. Proceeds benefit the Stanislaus County Health Foundation.

AGE WITH MOVEMENT CELEBRATION

Hosted by the Healthy Aging Association, this celebration of Older Americans Month features a 5K walk, balance and fitness testing, blood pressure checks and different ways to get moving such as walking, cane-fu, strength training, and tai chi.

MODESTO MEMORIAL CLASSIC 1 MILE/5K RUN AND WALK
Tuolumne River Park, Modesto
The Modesto Memorial Classic features a walkerfriendly 1-mile course and a 5K-course, plus a free kids’ fun run, post-race goodies and raffle. The event supports local veterans and the Modesto Vet Center.

Race two or five miles in this race organized by the Merced Running Club and sponsored by Hilmar Cheese. Class winners receive a pound of cheese. Proceeds benefit the Hilmar High School and Middle School track teams.

CANYON CLASSIC CENTURY
Creekside Middle School, 535 Peregrene Dr., Patterson
Organized by the Modesto North and Gateway Rotary Clubs, this 100-mile bike ride has been around for 26 years. A fun ride, quarter century, metric century, and 91-mile Lick Observatory Climb are available, as well.

PEACE OFFICER MEMORIAL RUN
I St. & 11th St., Modesto
A race to honor Stanislaus County’s police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. The start line, finish line, and each mile of the half-marathon are dedicated to one of 15 fallen officers. A 5k, kids fun run, and safety fair are also part of the event.
