Bow-Wow Friendly Businesses

By Jacqui D. Sinarle

Good news for dog-lovers: Stanislaus hot spots are now more pet-friendly than ever!

Not only do more businesses provide accommodations for man’s best friend, many also provide special treats. Prime Shine Car Wash offers a complimentary organic dog treat to customers’ pooches at 16 locations throughout the Central Valley.

At the Yogurt Mill, the staff provides a complimentary doggie treat and drink of water to dogs hanging out with their owners on the patio. You can even preorder a batch of homemade dog treats at Modesto’s Village Baking Company & Cafe.

Harvest Moon Restaurant in Modesto allows dogs on the patio and will serve them a bite of poached chicken. You can also ask for a doggie snack the next time you visit the patio at Modesto’s Twisted Pig Bar & Grill.

In Turlock, Cafe La Mo will provide a treat for dogs with their owners on the patio. Or if you’re getting a beverage at your neighborhood Starbucks, ask for a “puppucino” for Fido (it’s a short cup of whipped cream).

Other food establishments that allow dogs on their patios (many also provide water upon request) include:

Picasso’s Gourmet Deli & Art Gallery, Modesto

Redwood Cafe, Modesto

Papachino’s, Modesto

Greens on Tenth, Modesto

Queen Bean Coffee House, Modesto

Barkin’ Dog Grill, Modesto

Baja Fresh Mexican Grill, Modesto

Chefs of New York, Modesto

Gillman’s Classic Drive-In, Oakdale

Cocina Michoacana, Oakdale

Grizzly Rock Cafe & Grill, Turlock

In addition to allowing dogs on the premises, Riverbank’s Sno-White Drive-In has a water fountain and large patio and grassy area. The drive-in has even hosted visits from locals on horseback!

While many businesses allow dogs on their outdoor patios, it’s best to check first. Wherever you bring your dog, obey the principles of good petiquette: Use a leash, pick up after your pooch, and maintain control of your pet at all times.
