May is National Cycling Month and the City of Modesto and local cycling groups are putting together a host of fun activities to encourage exercising on two wheels. Events will include a Bike to Work Day, Tour of California Cycling Expo and Family Cycling Festival.

The highlight of the month is the opportunity to take your commute in another direction by joining in Bike to Work Day. Thursday, May 19 is the morning to join new Modesto Mayor, Ted Bradnvold and Bike to Work.

The ride will begin with a meet up at Village Bakery in McHenry Village and the riders will depart at 6:30 a.m., heading toward City Hall.

Last year, dozens of cyclists left their cars behind and cycled to work.  Riders will be greeted Downtown with a light breakfast and vendor fair at 10th Street Place. There will be free t-Shirts and prizes for the first 150 bike commuters.  Don’t miss the chance to spare the air and get some exercise at the same time.
