Out & About: Bernie Sanders Rally
By Noel Daniel
It’s not often that Modesto sees a presidential candidate– but that’s exactly what happened on Jun. 2 at the Modesto Centre Plaza. 2,300 showed up to listen to the Vermont senator as he promised victory in the upcoming primary. Although Sanders did not win California, he did leave a lasting impression on Modesto.
His hour-long speech was well-received, pulling in national media to Modesto. In fact, according to KCRA, he’s the only presidential candidate to make a stump speech in Stanislaus County.
Sanders was joined by Susan Sarandon and singer-songwriter Sarah Lee Guthrie, Arlo Guthrie’s daughter and Woody Guthrie’s granddaughter. Sanders has said he’ll be continuing his campaign until the party convention on Jul. 25, so stay turned to political news outlets for the results.
